Hi,
I really liked evo calendar so i set it up on my fedora 12 box. i added two
remote calendars to it, one .ics on local system and one caldev. Everything's
fine, the calendar shows entries from all three. However, the reminder alert
only works for local evolution meetings, and not the .ics or caldev calendars.
This is a feature not a bug. iCalendar (specifically VEVENT) alarms are
a rather tragic part of the specification [RFC2445/5545 not Evolution].
iCalendar alarms should only be processed for local calendars. See also
section 3.1.2 of the GroupDAV-01 spec for concurrence.
To properly do alarms your *server* should handle them -or- the client
should store the alarms locally [not sending them to the server, and
scheduling them itself]. AFAIK this doesn't work for the great majority
of client/server combinations. In no case does the user generally get
the behavior they expected.
Is there a way I can make it work for all. I've gone thru preferences repeatedly
and played around a while, but no luck.
This on 2.28.3.
Thanks a lot. Please cc me on replies, as I'm not subscribed.
