Re: [Ekiga-list] BT HomeHub blocking UDP 5060

In probing the port forwarding I set up, I discover that it is doing all
the forwarding correctly except for UDP port 5060. 5059 and 5061 are
forwarding just fine, as are UDP 3478,9 and TCP 1720. I am thus guessing
it has some built-in grabbing of 5060 for its own purposes.

Would this forwarding issue explain the failure to register with
ekiga.net?

Is it possible to use Ekiga, at least to initiate SIP calls, if it is
behind NAT that won't forward 5060?

Is there some trick to getting this device to actually forward 5060?

You haven't established that the device is to blame. It could be your ISP blocking port 5060 (as some have infamously been know to do to promote their own VOIP solutions).

If you are somewhat technical, consider running a linux firewall (including firewall on a CD) in place of the BT Home Hub. This will let you trace (tcpdump) packets coming into the router to determine if the ISP is blocking them.

Short of that, you could connect your PC directly to the ISP, and either run a packet trace (does Windows have a packet trace?) or see if it starts working. If it starts working, that definitely blames the BT Home Hub. If it still doesn't work, you really need a packet trace to diagnose further.
