But if I have a netbook with 1gb ram and swap, and I think 300 mb taken
excluding buffers/cache... or buffers/cache are the thing that matters?

at least 2 Gb ram is what I would recommend.
I have one netbook with 2 gb ram and it works well.

Hi MichaÅ ,

The problem with netbooks is that they tend to have limited ram and
processor power. They lack the power of a more expensive laptop, and
I've found regardless of what operating system is running on them they
are slower than a turtle with three broken legs. About the only thing
I can think of to help boost performance is to install more ram on
that netbook which might help handle the extra load of having Orca
running with other apps like Firefox etc.

Cheers!

Hello.

I experience some critical accessibility performance issues on my
netbook.
For example, performance of firefox is somewhat poor there, and running
some heavy recording/conference program like skype/teamtalk/even the
standard sound recorder critically slows down the whole accessibility.
Any workarounds?
