Kerning: OTF + Pango

I can't seem to get kerning features of the OpenType fonts I'm using to show up in rendered SVGs when using pango/cairo.

Specifically, I am using the python bindings to pango/cairo/pangocairo that are installed as part of the pygtk2 package. I'm laying out text with pango and rendering it to an SVG via cairo. The fonts I am using are custom fonts that have kerning features applied via features file in RoboFont.

I'd appreciate any suggestions or pointers in the right direction for getting kerning to display when using the python bindings.
