You might also be interested in GDK_POINTER_MOTION_HINT_MASK see:
 http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/gdk/gdk-Events.html#GdkEventMask

This will allow you ignore incomming motion events while you are
still processing the current emission.
