gtk + Window Maker appicon

Hi

I noticed a weird behavior of the gaim appicon with Window Maker: gaim
is one of the few gtk applications that sets its Window Maker appicon's
icon itself. In general, gtk applications sets only the miniaturized
icon but not the appicon. So far, so good, but if I open a file
selection widget in gaim, then a new appicon (with the undefined icon)
is created. Is this a feature, or a bug? Appicons are an exclusivity of
Window Maker, so I'm asking in the Window Maker ML as well as in the GTK
ML.

Anyone has a clue how to disable that unnecessary icon creation?

It seems that realizing the widget before assigning its icon let Window
Maker create the appicon with the correct icon. I know that one way of
preventing a new appicon to be created when an application has already
one, is to group every newly created (realized) window to the leader
(main) window. But sometimes it is not possible to do that, for example,
when gtk widgets create other windows (e.g. the rename dialog of the
file selector widget, etc). Is there any tip to prevent this
'unnecessary appicon'? Is it a feature or is it a bug?

PS: This does not happen is the gtk application does not assign its
appicon's icon.

Thanks
