arrow keys have different behavior

my version of gnumeric was updated by debian's apt-get, and now the
arrow keys have a very annoying different behavior.

instead of changing the active cell (moving the active cell left, right
up or down), they change the entire view of the spreadsheet. for
instance, if cell A1 - Q1 are visible along the top row and i press
right arrow, cells B1 - R1 become visible.

i'd *much* prefer the arrow keys to change the cell rather than which
cell the view is centered on.

is there a way to get the arrow keys back to their original
functionality?

i hope this is clear. i'm not sure of spreadsheet lingo.

thanks,
pete
