Actually, I don't find the current behavior useful. g-p-m really should
dim the display after say 30 seconds or 1 minute, I think that's the
expected usage. And, btw, no need to make this value configurable from
the UI. 

Oh, while I'm here, another nicety would be if g-p-m "remembered" the
setting when I'm pressing brigthness+ / brightness-. E.g. when you
change the brightness in response to those keypresses also update the
relevant gconf key (e.g. depending on whether you are on AC or not).
Current behavior makes me feel that g-p-m is in control of my computer,
not myself.
