Looks like it was reported a year ago. The anti-aliasing toggle does
work for me in Gimp 2.8.22 (kubuntu 16.04)
but not Gimp 2.10.4 (kubuntu 16.04 flatpak)
I think I will update that bug report.

Worked for Schumacher in gimp 2.8 a year ago so there is no problem.
