Thank you, Curtis!  I checked (Synaptic), and my system is now updated with
the new file (libenchant1c2a version 1.5.0-0ubuntu3), that you mentioned. 
It must have been installed in the past day or so, as a system update.

I replaced my ~/.config/enchant dictionaries (en.dic; en_US.dic) with my
rsnapshot (Rsync) backups, and so far, they have not been overwritten!

This is a huge relief!  Yhank again for your post - much appreciated!
