I think of a setting which forces using specific (fallback) encoding.
In my case it is WINDOWS-1251.
None of [known to me] linux players can do this.
(btw, suggestion to recode/convert all tags to another encoding (utf-8
for example) is not an option - I may have no write access to tracks
at all)

Long thread :) Is it possible to change at least how an album is
displayed? I want YEAR field there.

Thanks, didn't know this. But this is not what I was asking. I meant -
how can I Browse My Files? They are already sorted by directories. I
have, for example, a directory with funny tracks, most heavy tracks,
tracks for PSP/mobile. Browsing is not filtering.
