Freeze break request for libgnomekbd

Hi,

I'd like to request a freeze break request for libgnomekbd to include
this set of small patches

in particular, these two:

are required to make the keyboard layout display tool work on wayland sessions.

I'm including all the other cleanups in this request since they're
trivial enough and libgnomekbd hasn't had a release since 3.6.0 .
