I commited the first version of this. I couldn't use iframes, because
loading an iframe made the throbber throbb, so i used another trick to
load from the other port. I create a dynamic <script> object and set its
src to point to the url. The url when loaded is some javascript that
triggers the update.

I'm sure there will be issues with this, as there is a lot of new code
involved. I'll try to fix up the problems as we see them.
