[xslt] Abt UTF-8 encoding

Hello Friends
Thanks for replying me
I have added following thing to my xslt file 
<xsl:output method="text"
encoding="utf-8"/>
when i run my code it says 
xsltApplyOneTemplate: output was not compiled
& ouput which generated is plain text as far as 
 i understand 
so what may be the problem  ?
