Re: [xslt] FW: make error with XML-LibXSLT-1.57 & libxslt-1.1.4

Hi -
It always worries me when I hear someone mentioning installing the
libraries "with a little force". The quick answer to your
question "why am I getting xxxx error" is "because you have
installed incorrectly", but I realize that would be of little help
to you. The more technical response of "because xmlexports.h has
been generated incorrectly" would be of roughly the same value :).
So, let me list the steps which I would recommend (specific to
the information you supplied - for others the directory names
would be different):-

1) create or choose a directory to install the latest sources,
libxml2-2.6.7 and libxslt-1.1.4. Let's call that
/home/emetal/sources. Unpack the sources into that directory.

2) cd /home/emetal/sources/libxml2-2.6.7

3) ./configure --prefix=/home/emetal/siteroot --without-python

4) make
The make should complete *without any errors*, and probably without
any warnings (although I can't guarantee that one).

5) make install

6) cd /home/emetal/sources/libxslt-1.1.4

7) ./configure --prefix=/home/emetal/siteroot --without-python \
   --with-libxml-src=/home/emetal/sources/libxml2-2.6.7

8) make
Again, the make should complete *without any errors*.

9) make install

At that point the libraries should be correctly installed, with
include files in /home/emetal/siteroot/include, libraries in
/home/emetal/siteroot/lib and utilities in
/home/emetal/siteroot/bin.

Hopefully this will get you back into the world of Perl problems
rather than libxml2 / libxslt problems :-).

Regards,

Bill
