[xml] XML catalogs referencing to local files on Windows

Is anyone using XML catalogs that reference files on the local disk on
Windows?  Are you using file: URLs or filesystem paths for the uri
attribute?

I'm trying to get something working in a situation where I know
multiple drives will come into play, and so I need to either use full
paths with drive letters or file: URLs with the ugly
file://D|/some/really/long/path syntax.

Has anyone done this successfully?
