[xml] encoding conversion from libxml2 to AECHAR (unassigned short)

Hi, how do you convert the data encoding from libxml2 to AECHAR (unassigned 
short)? I want to display the data in the tree in an encoding other than 
UTF-8.  A code snippet would be helpful.
