I'm not saying it doesn't work, works ( Linux ) very well, that's
basically a reason why I'm trying to use this for one of mine Win32
projects.
But problem is, semaphore/lock would require enforcing code rules,
obviously due to every COM component ( DLL ) should use that semaphore;
a
problem that I would like to avoid. And of cause semaphore will not
solve a problem of a 3rd party component that use libxml I have no
control over.
I'm not saying show stopper,
just a little more logistics in that approach.

You cannot just say "it doesn't work" and not explain why.
I really don't see why you can't implement your own behaviour on top
of the existing code and for example a semaphore implementation.
