I did the test you mentioned with
xmllint --push <filename>
and it failed EXACTLY as it did in my software.

Hum, this is strange, if this does not happen with xmllint --push
on a file containing the session content, then this probably mean
the problem comes from the way you remove the nodes from the
parser context on the fly.
