[xml] xmlParseFile

Hi,
 
a simple (I think question): I'm trying to use xmlparseFile but I'm having some problems.
 
Does this function escape the url?
 
My url is composed with strange characters: for example $ and #. Can I  call xmlParseFile with this url or I 
have to escape it?
