  Giovanni,

 first 2.2.7 is *really* old, do not install this.
Second, ftp to ftp://xmlsoft.org/ , get the libxml2-2.4.3-1.src.rpm
file and run as root rpm --rebuild libxml2-2.4.3-1.src.rpm
Then install the resulting libxml2-2.4.3-1.ppc.rpm (and
the libxml2-devel-2.4.3-1.ppc.rpm if you want to compile program
using libxml2)
