As another example, FRAPS on Windows injects into all running processes
by using its root privileges. You could do that, but it’s probably a bad
idea. Of course, iff what you are doing is an input method, you may have
other means at your disposal.

I’d just go for Michael Gratton’s suggestion of implementing the
activate signal and having the user set up their window compositor so it
calls a helper application which makes the D-Bus call to activate the
application. Unless this is too much overhead for you of course. Maybe
someone else knows better?
