try something like:

   [...]
   mybox = new EventBox();
   mybox.add_events (Gdk.EventMask.SCROLL_MASK);
   mybox.scroll_event.connect( () => {
          GLib.stdout.printf("Scroll\n");
          this.call_to_an_objects_method();
          return true;
       });
   [...]
