My guess:
When VALA receives sufficient amount of interest on kernel and similar
critical places, people will start putting pressure on refactoring GLib
so that part of it can be linked within these critical applications.
Reinventing a little bit of glib will be the very beginning of this hard
and slow process.

This is crazy. If go down this path, people will eventually reinvent
glib at the end.
Maybe. But glib wil never get linked into the kernel. Or grub. And no-one will recreate glib - but maybe
many people will create bits of it as they need...
