[Vala] Getting type name for GType based classes?

Dear List,

Is it possible to get the type name of GType based classes at runtime ?

I know it is possible to do this with GObject based classes with
Object.get_type(). But is this function useful with GType based classes?

This might be relevant to my suggestion on `typeof` operator with type
instances.
