No, it will not use pmount. gnome-mount gets global device specific
options from HAL, uses (will use) gconf to look up user specified
options for specific volumes and uses HAL methods to do the privileged
mount/umount/eject operations.

(You probably ask, cause Ubuntu has the weird idea of running HAL
unprivileged. Be prepared, gnome-mount is only the first user that
requires a "normal" HAL setup, more will follow for other kind of
operations, so you guys may need to reconsider this decision, if
you want to be able to follow upstream development.)
