Sorry, but these suggestions have been discussed several times already
on gnome-shell-list, and they've been rejected by the designers. The
idea is that the Windows/Applications labels will go away, and an
improved file management UI will be added instead of places. This is
known as Finding and Reminding, but sadly it's not been designed

As a general rule, Shell-related discussions should go to the
gnome-shell-list instead of usability. And design is done on the
#gnome-shell IRC channel.
