I have uploaded a preview rpm version of the Start Menu for Fedora Core 9. You don't have to recompile the source to test it, just force install the gnmoe-panle rpm, and reinstall the original gnome-panel to restore the normal menus.
download modified gnome-panel. Please wait 25 seconds and fill in the securitycode that is displayed just before the text input.
