My version uses double-click for both sides of the pane. I don't know about anyone else, or if it was just configured differently for my distribution (openSUSE 10.3, GNOME 2.20).

Hi all and thanks for the GNOME!
I have a short question:
In the file browsing dialogs, like file->open, the left pane (folders
and favorites) responds to single click, but the right one, where you
have files and folders - to doubleclick.
There are no visual clues that would hint for the single click on left
pane, and i find myself forgetting which one was which time after
time.
I was wondering if there is any background on this behavior or just
happens to be so.
Didn't find any bug about this, so before filing one i wanted to make
sure that i haven't missed something.
I would propose to either change mouse cursor, or change the behavior
to doubleclick in both panes.
