[Usability] File chooser thumbnails

I just can't believe this issue hasn't been tackled by Gnome
developers in the last three years.

Does anyone know if there are any plans to do this simple and much
needed feature?

Also, where are the Gnome devs hanging around? I've been subscribed to
gnome-devel-list for ages and not a single message has arrived.
