[Usability] Copying files

I am using Gnome with the latest version of Ubuntu, which detects and
asks before copying a file onto another file of the same name when
copying or cutting between directories or disks etc. A helpful feature
of Windows Explorer is that it provides the dates of the 2 files in the
dialog box as well. Is there any reason why Gnome's file manager does
not do this and if not, is it a feature that could be included?
