I have just noticed that the show desktop button minimises all windows
on every workspace and was just wandering what the reasons were behind
this decision as it seems to make little sense to me. When I am working
I use each workspace for an individual task, i.e when writing a report I
will use the front desktop (as I see it, i.e. Desktop 1) for
word-processing, then the 2nd for something like a web browser with
reference material. Then I may finally have any applications I don't
require for the task at hand but still want running in the background on
the final desktop (such as xmms).
Now when I find I need another document for reference, for example a
text document, that I have kept on my desktop for easy access. I will
switch to desktop 2, use the show desktop button to get rid of the other
windows before opening the file foo.txt. Then I switch back to the work
in progress and it has vanished to the taskbar. This behaviour is
contrary to my expectations as the 1st and 2nd desktops are entirely
seperate in my mind so changes in one should not affect the other
(excluding things like files placed on the desktop etc)
I hope i made myself clear.
P.S Where did the "show desktop" shortcut vanish to, and would it be a
good idea to have this configurable through the show desktop button as well.
