Well, to me the underlying problem is really that keyboard themes only
affect text entry fields.  If a keyboard theme affected the entire
desktop, including shortcuts on menus (and changing the mnemonic access
key from Alt to something else if need be), then the problem wouldn't
really arise.... Edit->Select All could then be mapped to ^Xh instead of
the "troublesome" Ctrl-A etc.

Getting that to work for arbitrary keyboard themes would be nigh on
impossible, though :)
