[Usability] Gnome GDM option?

Should there be an option in the Gnome login panel to run X in the
traditional way (i.e. start X, load .Xresources and run .xinitrc)?

As-is you have a choice of Gnome, KDE, and bare "X + xterm" (no window
manager).

Or is the expectation that if users don't want to use KDE or Gnome, then
we don't want them to use GDM?  (But if GDM is useful to them, one day
they may try out Gnome when the mood takes them, and decide they like
it!)
