The designers of the Xerox Star, from whom this behavior derives,
intended triple clicking to select a sentence (and it does on the Star,
and I'm guessing the Macintosh and Windows too, though I haven't
checked). They have a lot of test results from detailed tests in areas
like this, but a lot of it is not available, so who knows if they
compared selecting lines vs. sentences.
