May I please ask not "streamline" Notification Area too much? Currently it is the _only_ place to put cross-desktop applet. I bet that is the main reason why gaim/gnomemeeting/stardict/... use it instead of writing regular applets - applets are for GNOME only. So before _enforcing_ "notifications only" policy for the Notification Area - could GNOME please agree with KDE on the cross-platform applet structure? Actually, a lot of people asked me to move keyboard indicator into the Notification Area - just because they want to use it in KDE/XFCE/.. any other environment supporting XEMBED. I did not make any final decision yet - but they got the point, I think. Regards, -- Sergey
