No.
I'm suggesting that not only have they figured it out, but they find
it a useful concept and a convenient function.
The distinction between "close the window" and "quit the app" is
clear, and both are useful things to do, especially in the case of
apps that might use multiple windows to perform a task.
I think your assertion that Quit is confusing and not helpful is not
plausible on the face of it. Your example of people trained to bad
habits by xterm is not very convincing, it only shows the lameness of
xterm.
