yeah, and dont get me started on redhat - there's preferences, Server
Settings, System Settings and System Tools, all scattered in the
Applications menu - the whole thing looks like a windows start menu
*shudder*

I think that we need to give the distributions a great framework with
applications and settings clearly sepporated.

Unfortunatly there is no shortage of ideas on this. And i think that
there are very few people who want desktop preferences to last for very
much longer. 

What we need is to make a decision on the the menu structure we want. It
will obviously all be for gnome 2.4, but IMHO we should start working on
this the second the 2.4 branches are cut, but there is nothing stoping
us deciding what we want sooner than that.
