First of all, I feel that this whole thread is rather stupid and leads nowhere except into a flame war.
Allah ballah and God is on OUR side!!
Then, theree are parts of GNOME that could (and should) be configurable which are not configurable today.
Wetter those parts should be configurable through a user interface or through configuation files are *not* very important.
What *is* important are the fact that parts of the GNOME style tends to move into an "accepted visual look". This is
not very wise and could lead to a situation where parts of the market can't use GNOME. For example, what about
palm top devices. An other area are game consols. Yet another area are cell phones.
I belive "the right way" to go are (Me and God!) towards a system with a simple graphical interface for simple adjustments
of preferences and a heavy duty engine for merging all kinds of styles and preferences.
Somehov I blive this is what the GNOME teams try to do..
(Gee, are God using GNOME?)
John
Why don't we all speak norwegian.
