More about the Usability Project (and a meeting reminder)

Remember: Usability Project meeting Tues July 31, 2001 1800 UTC (=
11amPDT)...that's tomorrow! I'd especially like to encourage hackers
with an interest in the future shape of the GNOME interface and desktop
to attend this meeting (and of course everyone interested in usability).
Usability is about more than beating people into conformance, and
dumbing down the interface. This is something that can improve the
quality of experience of the GNOME desktop for *everyone*, all the more
for those of us who use GNOME all-day-every-day. This is (hopefully)
going to significantly alter^h^h^h^h enhance the shape and feel of the
GNOME desktop, so we need everyone's participation.

For anyone interested in the meeting, or the usability project in
general, please read our pre-meeting notes at:

   http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gup/meeting.html

It would be great if you could at least scan these before jumping into
the fray, as they will hopefully establish the general shape of the
meeting (I'm willing to flex as needed, of course). The notes are pretty
informative about our current ideas for direction, so even if you can't
attend the meeting I'd encourage you to read them (or wait for a more
finalized post-meeting form).

I swear I'll stop cc:ing g-h after this initial meeting, just trying to
drum up interest ;-)

cheers,

-Seth
