[Tracker] Reinstall system and backup

Hi.

My question is simple.

If I reinstall the operating system do the TAGs get lost?

Or are they (TAGs) in the metadata of the files and are they imported again when the new OS runs and process tracker start?

If the first statement is correct. Is there a way to make a backup?
