OK.  So given the PDF in ~/tmp/2013-10-26-3.pdf with the string "RT00"
in it, which I can find using evince's search box:

$ tracker-search --disable-color -l 1000 pdf
Results:
...
  file:///home/brian/tmp/2013-10-26-3.pdf
  2013-10-26-3.pdf

$ tracker-search --disable-color -l 1000 RT00
Results:

$ tracker-search --disable-color -l 1000 rt00
Results:
