So, after many failed attempts at having a stable working tracker experience, I am once again trying on Ubuntu's current LTS release. So yes, that does mean that the tracker is not bleeding edge. But I would hope that there would be some effort at making a stable/working release on such a popular (with end-user types) O/S. So, I installed and ran tracker and it seemed to run for a while but now it seems stuck: $ tracker-control Found 303 PIDs… Found process ID 23590 for 'tracker-store' Found process ID 23601 for 'tracker-miner-fs' Store: 27 Oct 2013, 09:10:59: ✓ Store - Idle Miners: 27 Oct 2013, 09:10:59: 1% Applications - Crawling recursively directory 'file:///home/brian/.local/share/desktop-directories' 27 Oct 2013, 09:10:59: 0% File System - Initializing 27 Oct 2013, 09:10:59: ✗ Emails - Not running or is a disabled plugin It's been in this same state for a few hours now. The miner process seems stuck at: $ strace -f -p 23601 Process 23601 attached with 3 threads - interrupt to quit [pid 23603] restart_syscall(<... resuming interrupted call ...> <unfinished ...> [pid 23602] restart_syscall(<... resuming interrupted call ...> <unfinished ...> [pid 23601] restart_syscall(<... resuming interrupted call ...> Stopping and restarting the miner doesn't seem to add anything to the miner log and the new instance is stuck in the same state. In fact restarting doesn't seem to add anything to any logs so it's stuck right away after being restarted. The version of tracker on here is 0.14.0. Should I just give up or should this version work? Cheers, b.
