Patching libpng is a longer term fine solution, too. Not sure how
willing libpng maintainers will be, but for the time being we can deal
with the opitmization this way.
I personally wouldn't mind to have the faster extractor in place, but I
also wonder how long would have taken to improve libpng itself. Is there
a libpng bug report that we can refer to?
