The main purpose for generating actual files rather than directly
putting the data in the database is to test the actual extractors.

 Have you seen our extraction tests under tests/functional-tests/test-extraction-data? Each test is a "xxxx.expected" file saying what file to extract and what metadata are expected (or not).

 It is not an extensive collection but you could reuse the test and add new cases with your generated files.
