Yess! after installing libgtk-3-dev
I could build needle and now it works again!

the development of tracker might be too fast to make debs, but 
how about a package download script satisfying the dependencies?

If using Ubuntu, you need libgtk-3-dev and it will install any deps you need. This is on Ubuntu Natty which I am using here.
