Hi

tracker 0.12.3 and happy so far.

Good.

But I am wondering about the output from tracker-control -F -
becaues very often, nothhing is displaye=d (see below) but
tracker-miner-fs is working and no other apps are running:

The crawling stage can take some time depending on what locations
you index and how many directories you have there.

What is "some time"? I have started tracker thias morning, and it is
still crawling recursively "/" (I know, it is not recommended, but it
should not cause any problems, I guess.

It's quite ill advised to index /. There is a lot of stuff there which is useless to index and Tracker is primarily not designed to index the entire system but user data.

Is there some reason why the default XDG directory locations or even $HOME itself recursively is not enough?

Is there any way of actually having an increasing number showing
the objects analysed? Something to actually see that something is
happening?

After the initial crawling stage, we have a number we can base the
indexing/checking on. You should then see the % go up and an
estimate on the right hand side. If you don't you're running and
old version of Tracker.

True - but I only see that sometime - maybe I am to impatient.

If you don't always see it, it is either too fast or crawling is still ongoing.
