Re: [Tracker] Tracker is indexing very very slow

Hi,

We are not working on 0.6.9x versions, so i recommend to upgrade to the 0.8 series.

Still, with the old 0.6 hat on... it looks like tracker is indexing a big file that takes ages to extract (probably big PDF or ODF files). Set verbosity to 3 and check what file is keeping your indexer busy.

 Regards,

Ivan

Hi,

I have a problem with Tracker 0.6.94 indexing media files. After indexing first ~16 items it gets very very slow for the rest of the items in the queue.

So here is what I do:

- logged in as fresh non-root user without X started
- export DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS=`/bin/dbus-daemon --session --print-address --fork`
- /usr/libexec/trackerd -v 2 -s 1 &
- cp /opt/samples/* ~/

Observed Behavior: Tracker daemon starts up fine and starts to index the files from home dir (61 media files).
Tracker-Message: State change from 'Paused' --> 'Indexing'
Tracker-Message: The indexer has continued
Tracker-Message: Processed 16/61, indexed 16, module:'files', 14m 37s left, 05m 12s elapsed
Tracker-Message: Processed 17/61, indexed 16, module:'files', 13m 53s left, 05m 22s elapsed
Tracker-Message: Processed 17/61, indexed 16, module:'files', 13m 56s left, 05m 23s elapsed
Tracker-Message: Processed 17/61, indexed 17, module:'files', 14m 19s left, 05m 32s elapsed
Tracker-Message: Processed 18/61, indexed 17, module:'files', 13m 37s left, 05m 42s elapsed
Tracker-Message: Processed 18/61, indexed 17, module:'files', 13m 51s left, 05m 48s elapsed
Tracker-Message: Processed 18/61, indexed 18, module:'files', 14m left, 05m 52s elapsed

Could anyone help me identifying the source of this problem ?
Is this related to DBUS session ?
Any help is most welcomed.

Thank you very much
