Hi all,
I downloaded and successfully compiled the latest tracker 0.7.17.
I set some options using the system>preferences>search and indexing
(ubuntu 9.10).
however, tracker didnt start and calling trackerd and the cli I got
the message that there was no such command.
You terminate tracker with
$ tracker-control -t
Start it with
$ tracker-control -s
After restaring it, you must start the icon with
$ tracker-status-icon&
To watch the progress (same info you get clicking on the icon)
$ tracker-status
after restarting the computer I get the animated magnifying glass
icon.
leftclick on the icon gets me applications 100% and file system 0%.
The files in /home/bjorn/.cache/tracker are not changing size, so I
think tracker is not working, despite the animated icon?
Throthling might be at work here... Leave the pc alone for half a minute
and see if it pickups.
Yes, what does tracker-status -fd say it is doing?
In addition, if you run with verbosity set to 3, can you see if tail -f
~/.local/share/tracker/tracker-miner-fs.log shows anything happening?
We have fixed some issues in miner-fs recently that may affect this and
also I know there is a bug with named pipes causing disruption which
still needs to be addressed.
Could someone tell me how to proceed? The instructions on the
metatracker website seem outdated?
I do not have any of the ubuntu tracker packages installed:
None of the 0.6.x package are neccesary (i would avoid them)
Yes, wise advise.
