[Tracker] Merge indexer-split branch to TRUNK complete

Hi all,

Just to let you all know, the indexer-split branch has now been merged
to TRUNK. For those that want to get to the old indexer-split branch you
can still access it [1]. This branch is no longer going to be developed
on except for work which we agreed can be done post merge and which is a
bit heavy for just committing to TRUNK. Jamie and I discussed a few of
these cases at the hackfest.

For anyone wishing to try out TRUNK before it was merged, it has been
tagged [2].

Any problems, let me know.
